the presidential mansion just up the block. then just two saturdays ago, florida senator marco rubio was showing a little leg in iowa showing this early nominating state where he broke a fundraising record for the governor there. on tuesday night, this week, rubio and another potential gop heir apparent, congressman paul ryan are looking to get their political weight up by laying out their respective road maps for the jack kemp foundation. republicans ready to turn the page are introducing their new class of hopefuls, nice and early. it's a big class. a herd if you will of elephants stampeding toward 2016. there are those whose ethnic heritage alone will help to put a new face on the gop. in addition to senator rubio, there's new mexico governor susanna martinez, louisiana governor bobby jindal, south carolina governor nicki hailey and brian sandoval. two of the contenders intersect with the contingent of women would-be nominees. along with minnesota congressman michele bachmann. she isn't the only do over on the list. she's joined by fellow pennsylvania senator rick santorum and texas governor

the message is being pitched here. it's actually the theme that they are coming up with and some, like marco rubio, say we actually have to change the policy, not just the way that we're gift wrapping it. >> you know ted cruz and cruz is being raised as one of the new voices, new stars of the republican party. has he always been to the right? has he always been to where he is now? or is he a politician that public pressure and the way public leanings go, he will adjust? >> he is an ivy league-educated politician. i first met him back in 1999 where he was a prominent architect of compassionate conservative and then he saw the tea party taking off. he's very good at reading which way the wind is blowing that he still thinks that there's something to be made by harnessing him to the tea party. at least he believes and at least down in texas he doesn't believe it's over. >> molly, you were down there for the cruz speech. let me raise another speech to you. karl rove, he still doesn't get it. at a speech in kansas this week, he blamed republican losses on moderates and conservatives going after e

's interesting that tonight these speeches, and i think marco rubio is giving one, too, the kemp foundation. some of us are hold enough to remember jack kemp who was a republican who i think sincerely believed that some conservative ideas, in terms of homeownership and other things, could help african-american and low income community and he went out there, he talked to that crowd and he had -- yet there was a real authenticity -- >> it's better for americans if they have conservative ideas. these aren't just those ideas. >> yeah, i think cutting medicaid and cutting pell grants and school lunches is not what jack kemp was about. so paul ryan, just by -- it's interesting he said, i gave a speech, i gave a speech. you have to more than give speeches. >> i think you're right. and i do remember reading about jack kemp. david jashgs mal, thank you for being on the show tonight. >> sure thing. >>> coming up, they did everything to stop her. but here comes elizabeth warren. the big news is next. >> very proud night for myself and my family and my staff and my friends. i received a kennedy center honor.

party senators like ron johnson, mike lee, marco rubio, pat toomey rand paul geoff flake, geoff fisher. perhaps his worst was backing todd aiken after todd aikenenths "legitimate rape," he donated to aiken's come pain but his attempts to remake the republican party in his conservative image has errands him actually the scorn of more moderate republicans. washington post columnist jennifer rubin wrote today, quote, "demint has been a destructive force, thread anything to primary colleagues resisting all deals and offering very little in the way of attainable legislation." she's right. the legislation that he backed was pretty far out there. for example, he pushed a bill that would make it illegal to discuss abortion on the internet, to even discuss it. he wanted to make it illegal for gay people or unmarried women having premarital sex to be teachers at all. he led the opposition to obamacare. he said if he could stop the law from passing, it would quote break the president. he put a hold on the national women's history museum. governor nikki haley
